Mothers Day in Mexico

Mothers Day is celebrated by 46 different countries, Mexico is among them. Although the Americans celebrate Mothers day on the second Sunday of May people from the North American country of Mexico have this holiday on a certain day. They celebrate it on the 10th of May.

Likely in any other country Mexicans celebrate this festive with a great joy and enthusiasm. It is a tradition in Mexico when children on their own make gifts for their mother. They make presents on the 9th of May, the Mother’s Day Eve. Thus, with homemade crafts and presents sons and daughters tribute their mother who devote her children her whole life.

On the 10th of May, the day dedicated to all mothers, churches hold special mass. The orchestra playing “las mañanitas and giving of ‘tamales’ and ‘atole’ is the main thing of this event.’Tamales’ and ‘atole’  is the traditional early-morning meal that is distributed  to all local mothers.

As in many other countries which celebrate this special day, In Mexico it is commonly used to give mothers flowers, cards and presents. A beautiful fresh flower bouquet along with an original gift is a special token of love, gratitude and thankfulness to dear mother.

Along with special attitude and care given to Mexican moms on Mother’s Day, the whole family tries to honor mother and make her happy. In some schools special performances are organized. As a gift little children sing and dance, present many skits.

Thus, children demonstrate their infinite love towards mother. Every mother enjoys this performance and is pleased with such a special gift made by her little one. There is nothing better for mother to see her child singing and dancing in order to honor his lovely dear mother.
